We are all the products of our environments. Some people are talented enough to use those influences to create. Contrived? I personally don't find anything I've heard/seen from Luke to be forced. He actually seems naturally comfortable behind a mic with a guitar in his hand. It appears that you guys have parted ways on bad terms so I can empathize and understand your distaste for our guests. I personally am unaware of this situation, and would prefer to stay that way, but I respect your opinion on Lukes Music.
